The Nebraska football team hoped the week off would give defensive back Tommi Hill the time he needed to get all the way back from an injury. It looks like the bye did the trick.

On Saturday morning, Pete Thamel reported that Matt Rhule has told the media that he expects HIll to play against the Indiana Hoosiers. If that holds true, it would be the first time in weeks that the all-world corner was back on the field in a game.

There had been talk that Hill might be able to be back after the win over Rutgers. However, things were still up in the air earlier this week. At least according to the Nebraska football coach.

Nebraska football gets defensive star Tommi Hill back for Indiana

Hill has been one of the best defensive backs in the country, when he’s been able to play. He’s also been someone that opposing offenses have stayed away from his side of the field.

His return isn’t just about adding his talent to the field either. Since he’s been gone, USC transfer Ceyair Wright has stepped up and almost played as well as Hill. That means that Hill’s return on one side of the field, makes the other corner something that Indiana will have to worry about with both corners.

The ability to shut down the Hoosiers’ passing game is going to be key if the 6.5-point underdog Nebraska football team wants to hand the upstart Big Ten surprise team its first loss of the season.
