Former Nebraska football wideout Samori Toure has had an up-and-down professional career. However, for now, that stint is on the upswing. He’s got a new shot at getting some serious playing time with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 6-foot-1, 196-pound receiver originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Green Bay Packers after his single season with the Huskers in 2022. He played in 22 games, starting 2 in his first two seasons, and didn’t see any action in 2024, but did still work with new Eagles Offensive Coordinator Sean Mannion out of the practice squad in 2024.
The Packers released the former Nebraska WR from the training camp in 2024. Toure bounced around the league that season, spending time on the Bears' practice squad, and was on Denver's and New Orleans' practice squads in 2025, getting called up for one game with the Saints. This spring, he was looking for another team. With Mannion apparently giving Toure his stamp of approval, the Eagles signed the wideout after they traded star WR AJ Brown to the New England Patriots.
Toure is part of the Eagles’ completely reshaping of their wide receiver room after a down year in 2025. The former Husker is the fifth wideout Philadelphia has added this offseason, following the acquisitions of veterans Dontayvion Wicks – Toure’s teammate in Green Bay – Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, and 1st-round pick Makai Lemon.

Samori Toure’s Eagles shot gives Nebraska football another NFL comeback story
Toure adds a veteran presence to the room, who is more than a little hungry for playing time and targets. So far, his rookie season has been his best in the NFL. Starting two games, he hauled in 5 catches for 82 yards and his only professional touchdown. The following year, he tallied 8 receptions for 78 yards. Last year, with the Saints, he notched one catch for 3 yards.
Before making the jump to the NFL, Toure transferred to Nebraska for the 2021 season after starting his college career at FCS Montana. He began that campaign on the Biletnikoff Award watch list, and while he didn’t put up eye-popping numbers, he did lead the Huskers in receptions during the worst season in Lincoln in five decades.
Despite the Cornhuskers going just 3-9, Toure did enough to impress onlookers and analysts, playing in all 12 games with nine starts. He notched 46 receptions, 898 receiving yards, and 5 touchdowns.
In that lone season, he tied the Nebraska season record with five 100-yard receiving games, posted the second-highest yards-per-catch average in Nebraska history (19.5) among Huskers with at least 40 catches in a season, and tied for sixth place on NU's single-season receiving yardage list. He also led the Big Ten and ranked 17th nationally in yards per reception and was sixth in the Big Ten in receiving yards.
Before arriving at Nebraska, Samori Toure was one of the best receivers in the FCS ranks for Montana. He finished his career with the Griz with 155 receptions for 2,488 yards and 20 touchdowns, ranking in the top 12 in the school’s history in each of those categories. In his junior season, he led the Big Sky and was second in the FCS with 1,495 yards on 87 receptions.
