Nebraska football needs its wide receivers to step up if this offense is going to improve in 2021. One player who is providing a lot of optimism amongst Husker fans is Samori Toure, who continues to fill headlines this week.

It’s hard for an offense to make a splash if the wide receivers aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do. This has been one of Nebraska’s biggest problems ever since Scott Frost came to town and while the position group looks as good as it’s looked during his time at the helm, they have to prove it.

Samori Toure is a receiver that has Husker fans excited. He looked good in the spring game, catching three passes for 47 yards. His highlight of the game was a 27-yard reception, which was his first target as a member of Nebraska football.

Toure joined the Huskers this year after playing at Montana and put up big numbers for the Grizzlies in 2019. He had 1,495 receiving yards to go along with 13 touchdowns off of a whopping 87 receptions. The level of competition in the Big Sky Conference isn’t what it is in the Big Ten but Toure is going to make a difference for this offense and should hopefully give Adrian Martinez a reliable weapon to throw to.

Nebraska football fans should be excited about Samori Toure.

Over the weekend, I saw this tweet from Mitch Sherman of The Athletic and it got me fired up for what to expect from Toure. He says that Toure is going to be Martinez’s favorite target and if that ends up happening, good things should come for this offense after years of waiting for it to get going.

Nebraska football has a good group of receivers heading into the 2021 season. We’ve obviously mentioned Toure already but Omar Manning and Oliver Martin are players for Husker fans to lock in on as well. These are the best weapons that Martinez has had during his time at Nebraska and hopefully, that shows on the field.

If the Cornhuskers can finally get a solid group of wide receivers for Martinez, this team will be a heck of a lot more competitive in 2021.
