The Nebraska football team is holding onto running back commit Amir Brown with its fingertips. After an offer from Alabama seemed to loosen the Huskers' grip on the 4-star prospect, other schools smell blood in the water. Those teams include the Colorado Buffaloes, who came calling for Brown with an official offer late last month.

Should the latest offer to Amir Brown be taken as another sign that he's about to go looking elsewhere? It certainly seems as though opposing coaches see daylight between the back and the Huskers.

Still, when talking about Nebraska's chances of losing Amir Brown, Alabama could end up being the only program that can really pull him away. Kalen Deboer's program has put on a full-court press that has included the running back's old teammates doing some heavy lifting through peer recruiting.

Amir Brown's commitment to Nebraska football is being tested by Alabama and Colorado

Despite Alabama's struggles with the traditional running game in the two seasons under DeBoer, the Tide's rich history of running backs still makes it a serious factor in recruiting the next generation of backs.

There's also the issue that the Rolesville, North Carolina, prospect has already decommitted once in this cycle. He was committed to the Tar Heels last year, before he had a change of heart, and the Cornhuskers came calling with their own full-court press.

The recruiting battle for Amir Brown will go down to the wire. The good news is that for now, even with comments about his love for Alabama and teams like Colorado entering the fray, he's still committed to Nebraska. Matt Rhule and his staff have the upper hand and just need to fight to keep it.
