The Nebraska football team could be on the verge of losing its marquee 2027 running back commit. Amir Brown received an official offer from Alabama last week. Since that offer, the 4-star prospect has made it clear he's very, very interested in the Crimson Tide.
Speaking to 247Sports' Brett Greenberg, Brown said he's planning on taking a visit to Birmingham. That's bad enough news for the Huskers, who thought they had Brown locked up and didn't have to worry about much until December.
The Crimson Tide, the Nebraska football commit told Greenberg, "Have been on my mind every day & every night … I think about ‘Bama."
Amir Brown’s comments raise concerns for Nebraska football as he plans a visit to Alabama
That certainly doesn't sound like Amir Brown will be a commit much longer. Of course, it's possible that the running back simply wants to see what the SEC power has to offer. What the campus has to offer.
Once he gets there, he'll realize the Huskers are still where he should go. But for now, Kalen Deboer looks like he's more than a little problem for Matt Rhule at exactly the wrong time.
Just days before Nebraska starts spring practice, the mood around the fanbase has rarely been more grumpy and downtrodden, even during the worst Scott Frost years. The finish to the 2025 season has something to do with that.
The lack of a home run signing in the transfer portal (if one excludes Anthony Colandrea) has frustrated some fans even more. Should Nebraska lose the commitment of Amir Brown, one of the tentpoles of the 2027 recruiting class, things are only going to get darker.
