The Nebraska football team might have suffered its worst loss of the season on Saturday night, but the Huskers landed one of their best commits in the 2027 recruiting class as Amir Brown has pulled the trigger that seemed inevitable for the last few weeks.

Brown, a 4-star back out of Rolesville, North Carolina, had been a commit to Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels. However, as the ACC team's season started to spiral into the gutter, the talented rusher started looking elsewhere.

Once he did decide that the grass might be greener elsewhere, Nebraska quickly became the favorite. Not only were other 2027 commits like Tay Ellis and Trae Taylor hinting at this commitment coming down the pike, but Brown himself made it clear NU was a clear leader for quite a while.

In winning this recruiting battle, Nebraska has fended off several power schools, including North Carolina, Notre Dame, Indiana, Texas, and Virginia.

It wasn't even a week ago that Brown told recruiting analysts that he wasn't really in a hurry to pull the trigger on another commitment. That might show that the Huskers impressed him even more than people realized.

It might also simply be that he decided since he realized he wanted to join a star-studded class, he might as well make it official.

Nebraska entered Sunday with the No. 5 class in the 2027 cycle. Now Amir Brown becomes the first running back commit joining defensive back Tory Pittman, quarterback Taylor, wide receivers Ellis and Jabari Wilkins and offensive lineman Matt Erickson.
