Just after the next big recruiting weekend started for the Nebraska football team, Matt Rhule and Co. grabbed their seventh commitment in the last week. This time, the commitment came from a mostly under-the-radar Justyn Lindsay, a wide receiver from the Kansas City, Missouri area.
Lindsay’s name should be quite familiar to Cornhuskers fans as he’s taken numerous trips to Lincoln, including the last two weekends. He’s also taken in a Friday Night Lights camp, several gameday visits, this year’s summer camp, and then this weekend, his official visit.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound wideout is the latest get as Nebraska continues to try to set up a solid pipeline to Kansas City and Missouri. The Huskers have made progress in that area thanks to Jamar Mozee, an addition to NU’s staff last year.
Lindsay’s ranking and rating might not impress some Husker fans, but he does have the size and speed that Rhule and his staff have held at a premium since arriving in Lincoln. It’s also worth noting that while NU was the wide receiver’s first Power 4 offer, it was followed shortly after by the Iowa Hawkeyes. Even if those are the only P4 offers for the KC product, it’s never a bad thing to beat out Kirk Ferentz for a player.
Justyn Lindsay commitment helps Nebraska football reload at wide receiver
The young player’s profile could see a spike in his senior year as well. Lindsay recently transferred to Blue Springs (Mo.) after attending Blue Springs South, where he spent his underclassman years. The move places him in one of Missouri’s premier high school football programs and should provide greater exposure and enable him to post bigger, better numbers.
In his junior season, he tallied just 22 receptions for 352 yards. However, he showed serious big-play ability, averaging 16 yards per catch and turning those 22 catches into 7 touchdowns. He also shone in track and field as a member of Blue Springs' Missouri Class 5 fourth-place-finishing 4x200 relay. Lindsay also ran a wind-aided 22.35 200-meter rep in Spring 2026, per Athletic.net. He also managed to post a wind-legal 23.64 200 as a sophomore in Spring 2025.
Justyn Lindsay’s commitment comes after what have been some frustrating twists and turns in wide receiver recruiting this spring. The Huskers saw commit Kaden Howard decommit last week, and then they lost the battle for 4-star wide receiver Matthew Gregory, despite many analysts believing he was bound to play his college years in Lincoln.
The good news here is that even if Justyn Lindsay looks like a backup plan, Nebraska has a ton of talent in its wide receiver room. That will allow WR coach Daikiel Shorts to work on and develop him if he’s not ready to play right away. As for the Huskers as a whole, the KC-area player becomes the 17th commit of the 2027 class. He’s also the seventh in the last week and almost certainly won’t be the last of the weekend. June has been an extremely lucrative month for Rhule and Co. as they look to come close to filling out the class before the summer really gets rolling.
