Is Nebraska officially done portal shopping? With the signing of former Boston College defensive lineman Owen Stoudmire.
Stoudmire is the 17th Transfer Portal acquisition for the Huskers this winter. Matt Rhule and his staff knew there was a bit of a rebuild needed this offseason, and NU has definitely revamped the roster, as well as the coaching staff.
Stoudmire announced his commitment on Friday evening, marking a significant change in his football career. The Ohio native previously played all five seasons of his collegiate football career with Boston College, but put out a post announcing he would enter the transfer portal on Thursday, saying he is ready for a new home.

Nebraska adds former Boston College DL Owen Stoudmire via Transfer Portal
His new home is now officially Nebraska after an official visit earlier this week. Not only did he commit, but reports are that he's formally signed (for those worried he might pull a Kenny Minchey).
The soon-to-be sixth-year senior started his Boston College career in 2021, but that season was spent as a redshirt. In 2022 and 2023, he played in 19 games, in reserve action, totaling 17 tackles in those two seasons. In 2024, he played in 13 games, starting twice, and totaled career highs in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks, recording 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.
2025 was expected to be his real coming-out party. Still, just three games into the season, he suffered a severe injury that ended his campaign.
Stoudmire is expected to be a boon to the Huskers' defensive line both as a run stuffer and a pass rusher. He'll look to strengthen Nebraska's run defense in the A and B gaps while helping the pass rush. It's not entirely clear if he is the final piece of the portal puzzle. There had been earlier talk of hosting an Oregon defensive tackle on Sunday. Still, those plans might be canceled with Owen Stoudmire on board.
