While the Nebraska football team couldn’t pull off the upset against Ohio State, several positives showed up during that game. Perhaps the most unexpected positive to pop up was that Dylan Raiola actually has some scrambling ability no one, not even his teammates knew he had.

Raiola had a season-high 31 yards rushing in the game against OSU. Not counting the three Buckeyes sacks, Raiola ran for over 50 yards. That included a 38 yard dash that even had the announcers jumping out of their seats in surprise.

On Monday, several Nebraska football coaches and teammates talked about Raiola running more than he has all season. Some comments, like those of Marcus Satterfield’s were just sort of concerning. His claim that he had no idea Dylan could do that isn’t going to make fans feel that much better about the job he’s doing.

One of the funniest reactions to Raiola’s sudden scrambling was by defensive back Ceyair Wright. The USC transfer took to the podium on Monday and quipped that Raiola was now very similar to one of the best scrambling quarterbacks in the history of the game.

“He finna to be out there like Michael Vick next week,” Wright joked.

While he was joking about Raiola running that much, Wright did echo something head coach Matt Rhule said as well. Now that the quarterback knows he can do it, and is feeling more comfortable in the offense, Wright expects to see the Nebraska football signal caller run a bit more “because he knows he can do it.”
