When the Nebraska football team rolled out the new uniforms it will wear for the 2026 season, the look was met with almost universal initial hate. Some fans were so incensed that they even started threatening head coach Matt Rhule’s job. Even people who couldn’t quite put their finger on why they disliked the uniforms knew they didn’t like them and wondered what the point of such a small change to such an iconic look was. However, the outcry has quieted down quite a bit after the new unis were on full display in a sneak peek of what the Huskers will look like in EA Sports College Football 27.
The university shared an “early look” at what the Cornhuskers’ entrance into the digital Memorial Stadium will look like when the latest edition of the popular EA Sports game releases later this week. In doing so, there was plenty for fans to get excited about, but what NU fans and just college football fans noticed is that the new uniforms actually didn’t look that bad. In fact, those who didn’t have a dog in the race and didn’t take the Husker uniforms personally seemed even more excited than the group of people most likely to play as NU in the game.
The 100-second video first shows the crowd in Memorial Stadium getting hyped up as Nebraska runs onto the field. It then expands to show various gameplay clips, alternating with shots of players and coaches, and eventually shows Herbie Husker celebrating success. The goal was clearly to hype up people for the game, with the early release coming on July 2. That goal certainly seems to have been accomplished.
Nebraska football might have shut uniform haters down after a sneak peek in EA Sports College Football 27
While there were plenty of people who loved the look of the team running out of the stadium and the fans in the stand, as well as the coaches on the sidelines all celebrating the new game, it was Nebraska's uniforms that got the most notice from those who likely hadn't paid much attention to the new look.

Some fans looked at the digital version of the new unis and decided they would likely grow on fans as the year went on.
I think these Huskers uniforms will grow on a lot of people as years go on. https://t.co/jHvBYvzoCH

Others were still very much against the new uniforms who thought they looked better in the game, but still wanted to see what they look like in real life, in action.
Jerseys look better in game, still interested to seeing them on field.

Why ruin a classic look with modernist trash?
(Feels like a uniform for a mid major/ low P5 program) https://t.co/5NtPDhq1Tr
Others admitted that it "took a minute" to get used to the new uniforms, but eventually they weren't as bad as first thought.
It did make a minute to get used to the new uniforms. https://t.co/13iXcZPraS

Other users simply saw Nebraska's new uniforms, revealed earlier this month, already in the game as good news for other schools unveiling different looks in 2026.
.@HuskerFootball with one of the best looks at quick gameplay clips plus their recently revealed new uniforms. A positive sign for programs that have recently announced new uniforms or detail changes. #CFB27 https://t.co/HlXD50WoLf

The bottom line is that there will be people who hate the new Nebraska uniform no matter what. There are also people who will love them no matter what because they are new. For the rest, they at least get a sneak peek in EA Sports College Football 27 to decide on their own how they feel about the change,
