It’s not quite Christmas yet, but there’s been a lot of talk of late about the Nebraska football team celebrating Flipmas time next Wednesday when National Signing Day rolls around.
The Huskers have already flipped one 4-star prospect when they managed to nab Dawson Merritt away from the Alabama Crimson Tide. There is now quite a bit of talk about NU also grabbing Cortez Mills away from Oklahoma. So how about a third flip? Is Chase Loftin under the Huskers’ Flipmas tree?
It doesn’t appear he is. While the Nebraska football team has made a push to steal the in-state tight end prospect away from Florida State, it appears that he’s still leaning towards the Seminoles.
Nebraska football not making up ground as fast as it should
That might come as a little bit of a surprise considering just how long the Huskers have been working on getting Loftin to change his mind. However, it seems like with just a few days until signing day, he’s simply not been convinced he’s a better fit in Lincoln.
“I’m still having thoughts about Nebraska but FSU is the front runner,” Loftin told On3. “Probably will make up my mind in the next couple days.”
Yes, while that doesn’t bode all that well, it definitely means there’s an opening. If he hasn’t made up his mind yet, there’s a chance Matt Rhule and company can slide in there and make some more headway.
When it’s all said and done, it might be hard for Chase Loftin to sign his letter of intent for anyone but Nebraska football. But for now, they’re finishing a close second.
