The Nebraska football team is looking to build on its come-from-behind win against Michigan State in its first true road game of the season. Meanwhile, Maryland is trying to bounce back from its first loss of the season.
The Terps held a 20-0 lead at one point and a 20-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Washington then scored three straight touchdowns to win 24-20. Now the Huskers enter the week as slight favorites, which is a surprise considering the Terapins seemed like they were for real before they collapsed in the final 15 minutes.
Nebraska football vs Maryland early odds
According to FanDuel SportsBook, the Cornhuskers are nearly a touchdown favorite over the Terps as they start the week at -5.5 points.
That spread is surprising because Maryland has actually looked like a pretty good team, but this is the first time NU has played a game in front of a hostile crowd all season. Their previous game away from Lincoln was at Arrowhead Stadium, and the traditional home of the Kansas City Chiefs was overrun by Husker fans.
The total stands out too because both Maryland and Nebraska have looked better on offense than they have on defense at times. However, Vegas believes this could be a relatively low-scoring affair as the over/under is set at 48.5 for Saturday afternoon's game.
Nebraska vs Maryland prediction
The Huskers were far from perfect against Michigan State. Meanwhile, Maryland played very well against a good Washington Huskies team for three quarters. However, both teams might have shown their true selves in the fourth quarter. NU turned it on and scored 24 unanswered; Maryland folded. Matt Rhule and his crew turned the corner on Saturday.
