This coming weekend was already seen as a massive one for the Nebraska football team and its 2027 recruiting push. Now the Huskers know that one of the visitors is committed to a Big Ten rival, but as it happens, is still looking around. The recruitment of Ma'atoe Moe has already been an interesting one. Now the EDGE from Timpview, Utah's rollercoaster of a spring, just keeps going in Lincoln.
“I really love Coach CJ Robbins (DL Coach) he’s an amazing guy,” Moe told On3 after the commitment. “Coach Fleck was great of course and the whole staff was actually involved with me and I really enjoyed meeting every one. I was able to connect with the other recruits as well. It was easy to talk and vibe and I met a ton of good people who love the culture and everything about Minnesota. It was a great visit and they really showed out.”
At the same time, and despite the commitment, Moa said that the door isn't completely shut. His visit to Nebraska might just seem like a chance to see the state, but he also believes he could swing if everything goes well.
“I’ve never been to Nebraska before, so I’m looking forward to it,” Moe said. “I’m excited to see the area the community support for the program that I’ve heard a lot about. Roy Manning is my lead recruiter, and I’m looking forward to meeting all the coaches and support staff in general. I already know coach Manning and coach Rob Aurich (DC), but it’s going to be good to connect with the rest of the staff as well.”
Ma’atoe Moe visit gives Nebraska football a real shot at flipping Minnesota commit
Despite the defensive lineman committing less than a week ago, it's clear that Rhule and Co. have a chance to really make a move. The Gophers have his pledge at the moment, but he said he plans to make a "final decision" after the Nebraska visit.
“I did commit to Minnesota but I’m backing off a bit,” Moe said. “I want to see how this visit plays out and then I’ll decide where I’m going after this weekend.”
The Utah prospect is one of the best in the state for the 2027 cycle, and he's clearly enjoying the recruiting aspect. Because of that, even if he does make a "final decision" on Monday, and he sticks with the Gophers, Nebraska could have a chance to keep fighting all the way to December. The fight really begins this weekend when he takes in Lincoln amid a massive group of official visitors who could help steer his excitement towards the Huskers.
