Just as the importance of Nebraska football's success in the 2027 recruiting class is underscored, the Huskers become the overwhelming favorite to land one of the best defensive backs of the cycle. Jailen Hill might not be committing until June, but it certainly looks like when he does pull the trigger, it won't be much of a surprise.
On Sunday, Hill narrowed the schools he's still considering down to a Top 5. Alongside the Cornhuskers, the 4-star defensive back is looking at Washington, Florida State, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. The St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) product also revealed he'll commit to his chosen school on June 9.

There was a time when Hill, who is ranked as the No. 32 safety and No. 32 player in California according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, looked as though he was picking the Indiana Hoosiers. Back in January, Nebraska looked like an afterthought.
However, the Huskers have made up a ton of ground and are now considered the frontrunners in the race by no fewer than five recruiting analysts.
Predictions for a Jailen Hill commitment come pouring in for Nebraska football
Notre Dame analyst Mike Singer was the first in the rush, picking the Huskers to land Jailen Hill on April 13. Over the weekend, Singer was joined by Greg Biggins, Tim Verghese, Sean Callahan and Bryan Munson in picking Nebraska the winners of this recruiting battle.
Having already taken an unofficial visit to Lincoln earlier this year, the timing of his planned official visits appears to be a clue as to where he's expected to commit. Hill will take an official to Washington on May 29 and then to Nebraska on June 5. While he's said the June 9 commitment date is just something he picked, it seems like foreshadowing that he's set to pull the trigger just a few days after leaving Lincoln.
