While the Nebraska football team is doing its best to continue growing its 2027 recruiting class, it's already working hard on the 2028 cycle as well. So far, so good as far as luring top prospects from that group, as Lorenzo McMullen is planning a visit to a Huskers camp this summer.
Lorenzo McMullen gives Nebraska football an early 2028 recruiting win to chase
McMullen is one of the top wide receiver recruits in the 2028 cycle, and most recently, he was named to the list of top performers in the UA Next Ohio showcase. Allen Trieu named him the No. 7 performer in his Top 10, further driving home just how vaunted the pass-catcher is.
Nebraska hasn't been in the fight for Lorenzo McMullen for long, as they just issued him an official offer late last week. Still, Matt Rhule and company have their foot in the door as they battle some of the best schools in the country for the Princeton (Cincinnati, OH) prospect.
McMullen will be learning in a new school this fall, as he previously played for Taft but is transferring this year. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide receiver received numerous accolades last season, including invitations to the Polynesian Bowl and All-American Bowl.Â
Lorenzo McMullen gives Nebraska football a rising Ohio star to battle for
McMullen last season hauled in 41 passes for 737 yards and scored 20 touchdowns, earning all-conference and all-city honors in the process. Those numbers for such a young talent have many a school drooling to see what he can do in his junior campaign.
In addition to Nebraska, McMullen's profile is rocketing upwards. He also has offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Kent State, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, Temple, Toledo, Western Michigan, and Wisconsin.Â
The wide receiver is already among the Top 30 players in the 2028 class for both Rivals and 247Sports. Both sites have him as the No. 7 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in Ohio for the cycle.Â
The next step for Nebraska will be to secure some unofficial visits and to worm its way into Lorenzo McMullen Jr.'s heart while they wait to see how he narrows his interest list.
