Could Kaden Craft end up under center for the Nebraska football team? The 2028 quarterback and the Huskers took their first steps in that direction for the first time last weekend. It appears that both the Lake Norman product and Matt Rhule’s staff will keep tabs on each other over the next few months.

In fact, according to Rivals analyst Tim Verghese, “The Huskers are monitoring the 6-foot-4 sophomore closely and are expected to evaluate him in person later this spring.” In other words, the gunslinger is expected to either take another unofficial visit later in the spring, or coaches will be traveling to Mooresville, North Carolina, to see Craft on his home turf.

In addition to Nebraska, Craft has received significant attention from some of the biggest schools in the country. Notre Dame is right there at the top of the list, but he’s also got quite a bit of attention from Auburn, Duke, Florida, Florida State, and Miami, among many others.

Kaden Craft gave Nebraska football an early opening in a crowded 2028 quarterback race

Even with a growing list of options, Craft is still early in the process and focused on evaluating overall fit. While he paid a visit to Lincoln last weekend, he’s got plenty of other trips on his agenda.

He also recently went and saw Virginia Tech and new head coach James Franklin up close and personal in March. He’s expected to take unofficial visits to Tennessee, Clemson, Texas A&M and Texas in April.

Considering he’s a 2028 prospect, it’s not surprising that Kaden Craft isn’t considered a finished product yet, but 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins certainly believes the quarterback has plenty of talent.

“Plus athlete with a prototypical frame,” Ivins wrote in his official scouting report. “Has the guts to throw over the middle and challenge coverage. Extends plays with his legs and is effective on designed runs. Will rip spirals when he establishes a wide base. Must cut down on turnovers and improve field vision. Far from a complete product, but has ideal set of tools.”

Nebraska now has its foot in the door with the talented quarterback. How the relationship evolves will be an interesting watch.
