Nebraska true freshman wide receiver Larry Miles looks like he'll be missing some this fall. Just how much time, after showing a picture following surgery on Friday, is the big question. So far, the Huskers haven't released any information on the young wideout and what might have happened.
In fact, so far, the only information on what happened to Miles has come from the player himself. Earlier in the week, Miles posted a picture on his Instagram stories showing him sporting a walking boot. Alongside the picture was the caption, "Minor setback for a major comeback, God got me!"
As Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule hasn't met with the media since, there hasn't been any explanation for what happened to Larry Miles, though it's clear the lower-leg injury was bad enough to require surgery. His Instagram post on Friday showing himself in a hospital bed with the caption, "Surgery went well, thank y'all for your support," confirmed only that there was some surgery.
The obvious conclusion to draw is that the freshman wide receiver suffered some injury in the first practice of fall camp. That's never a good thing, especially for someone who had shown flashes in spring practice and was hoping to battle for playing time during his first season in Lincoln.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver from Jones High School (Orlando, FL), showed enough flashes during his prep days that there was at least some chance he could see the field, even if the Huskers have plenty of veteran wideouts poised to see most of the action.
Miles caught 96 passes for 1,168 yards and 11 touchdowns during his 2025 senior season at Jones. He recorded 67 receptions for 1,189 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior, giving him 163 catches for 2,357 yards and 21 touchdowns over two seasons at Jones. In his first two varsity seasons at West Orange, he added 61 receptions for 911 yards and seven touchdowns.
For now, it seems as though the true freshman will miss at least some precious practice time and part of the season. The next time Rhule addresses the media, he'll likely shed some light on what happened to the promising Nebraska freshman and his prognosis for getting on the field at all in 2026.
