Nebraska could see Florida State shake up a commitment it badly needs to keep

The Huskers may still lead, yet Nebraska football suddenly has a fresh reason to worry about this receiver commit.

One day after losing the fight for its top prospect, Nebraska football now has to deal with the headache of another Power 4 program coming after Kaden Howard.

Howard announced on Monday that he received an official offer from Florida State. On its face, that doesn't mean a whole lot immediately as the Miami Palmetto product is still considered a strong Husker lean.

Florida State adds new pressure to Nebraska football’s Kaden Howard commitment

On the other hand, a Florida player getting an offer from one of the most storied programs in his home state is always going to cause some pause among Nebraska fans. The offer from the Seminoles, paired with Howard's visit to UCF this past weekend has to make NU coaches wonder if their grip on the wide receiver is loosening.

Former NU coach Scott Frost has gone hard after Kaden Howard for a while now. He took an unofficial visit to the Knights last month and now he's heading back this month. It is of course, possible that Howard is just being polite to his in-state schools, though that politeness can sometimes turn into "I never saw it like that" sentiment quickly.

Howard has also scheduled two official visits at the moment, and Frost's squad is still in the fight there, too. He's taking an official visit to Nebraska on June 12 and then to UCF on June 19. Is it possible Florida State could get its foot in the door and get an official visit next month as well?

Nebraska football still has official-visit leverage as Kaden Howard’s recruitment shifts

Howard's best seasons could be ahead of him, though he did post a nice junior season, posting 25 receptions for 510 yards and 7 touchdowns for Palmetto High School in Miami, Florida.

Having lost the recruiting battle for 2027's top tight end, Ahmad Hudson, the Nebraska football team would like to avoid a decommitment anytime soon.
