Nebraska football risks major regret ignoring local quarterback phenom

While a local 2026 QB racks up new offers, the Huskers remain silent. Could they pay for passing on this rising star?

While the Nebraska football team seemingly has its 2026 quarterback commit in Dayton Raiola, one has to wonder if Matt Rhule might be about to miss out on a rather talented gunslinger.

Millard South quarterback Jett Thomalla doesn’t have a ton of Power 4 programs beating down his door. However, earlier this week, the Missouri Tigers were the latest eam to give him an offer and suddenly, you have to wonder.

Thomalla seems to be a bit of a rising star when it comes to the teams that are interested in him. He now has offers from Iowa State, the Tigers, Arkansas State, Duke, San Diego State, Washington State and Colorado State. That’s plenty of Power 4 teams that have come calling. Meanwhile, for now, the Nebraska football program hasn’t come calling.

Nebraska football could be missing out on one heck of a talent in Jett Thomalla

The 6-foot-4, 185 pound quarterback has taken in what Nebraska has to offer several times. According to On3, he’s taken six unofficial visits to Lincoln to see what Matt Rhule and the Huskers have to offer.

He visited Lincoln in June, September and October of 2023. He then also took unofficial visits to NU in January, June and September of 2024. Clearly, he likes the idea of the Cornhuskers but so far there hasn’t been an offer from Matt Rhule and his crew.

That’s despite the fact that according to Max Preps, Thomalla threw for 3,664 yards and 47 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions.

At this point, and this late in the game, it doesn’t appear the Nebraska footbal team is going to make Jett Thomalla an offer. And we’ll just have to see things shake out with wherever he does decide to go.
