With Nebraska football fans watching Jett Thomalla commit to the Alabama Crimson Tide, there have been some people raising questions about the way head coach Matt Rhule is approaching the state’s top prospects. However, should a recent analyst prediction for Omaha Central defensive back Tory Pittman be correct, those critics might be able to quiet down.

Pittman is one of the best players in Nebraska for the 2027 class and the high-powered teams coming after him are certainly a demonstration of that. Earlier in the year, there were real concerns that Pittman might be looking somewhere else for his college days. LSU, especially seemed like a team that had jumped into the lead. Fortunately for Husker fans, it appears that Rhule and his staff have corrected that problem.

Analyst pegs Tory Pittman to Nebraska in early 2027 recruiting forecast

On Friday, Rivals analyst Greg Smith was the latest who predicted that the Nebraska football team would eventually win the recruiting battle for the Omaha Central talent. He put in a FutureCast for PIttman, becoming the first analyst prediction in quite a while for the defensive back to go anywhere.

The 2027 prospect who could end up being a 5-star recruit when the smoke clears on the 2027 class,  has visited the Nebraska campus several times, that includes an unofficial visit back in March. He has visited the Huskers six other times, with his first visit coming on April 9, 2024.

Of course, having Lincoln so close to Pittman’s home is a big deal in a recruiting fight like this. Coaches can go up or have him down whenever they feel like the relationship needs a little massaging.

There’s still a long fight between now and Signing Day in December of 2026 but it looks like the Nebraska football team has vaulted into the lead for Tory Pittman’s favorite school.
