The Nebraska football team has a real fight on its hands for the top prospect in the state for the 2027 class and the Huskers quarterback commit in the same cycle knows full well it’s all hands on deck. In the battle for Tory Pittman III, quarterback Trae Taylor joined the fray and made it clear that Husker fans, in general, need to keep the 4-star safety “home.”
The latest phase of this recruiting fight officially began on Saturday when Mike Sautter posted an interview with Pittman on X where the Omaha Central star talked about what schools recruited him the hardest, which he’s most interested in seeing and who he is building up the best relationships with.
Trae Taylor urges Tory Pittman III to stay home as Nebraska battles LSU, FSU
Taylor, who has worked hard on peer recruiting since committing to the Nebraska football team earlier this spring, immediately commented on the social media post, saying, “We need to keep [Tory Pittman] home. [Nebraska football] It’s a must we keep him HOME.”
In the interview, Pittman mentioned that Florida State, LSU, and Notre Dame might be the teams that Husker fans need to worry about the most. And they do need to worry, considering the defensive star is regarded as the top player in the state and the No. 5 safety and No. 36 player overall in the 2027 class according to On3’s Industry Rankings.
The Huskers aren’t out of the fight yet, and Pittman said that’s due in large part to the relationship he’s forging with new defensive backs coach Addison Williams:
“We've been building on it. He called me every once in a while to talk about things going on in football, and wanted me to get up there.”
Nebraska football fans might notice Tory Pittman III didn’t have the warmest comments for Williams. That makes it much more critical that Trae Taylor spark a genuine friendship and help reel him in for the Nebraska football program.
