Now that the Nebraska football recruiting efforts are turning from the 2025 class to the 2026 cycle and beyond, it’s clear Matt Rhule and company are going to have their work cut out for them for one in-state prospect in particular. The Huskers are going to have a fight on their hands for an Omaha safety that plenty of Power Conference teams are showing quite a bit of interest in already.

Tory Pittman III has already had plenty of Power teams coming looking for the young safety, even if there are several years before he can sign with a college. The Omaha Central prospect got an offer from NU last spring and some power teams have come calling since then.

The latest offer for the Nebraska football target came just before the new year as Penn State joined the fray. Alongside the Nittany Lions, the Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans and Wisconsin Badgers have all told Pittman they’d love to see him on their roster.

Pittman ranks as the No. 30 national prospect in the class of 2027. He also ranks as the No. 2 safety and No. 1 prospect in Nebraska, according to 247Sports.

The Vols are the only Southeastern Conference school to offer the 2027 safety prospect a scholarship. However, with the love that the Omaha Central safety has gotten from some of the best programs in the country, it’s extremely unlikely the Vols will be the only team from the SEX that comes calling.

The Nebraska football team is going to have a fight on its hands. And it’s going to be a prolonged fight.
