The Nebraska football team has a ton of fights on its hands for in-state prospects, and it appears there is no more pitched fight than the one for Omaha Central defensive back Tory Pittman III. If there is a player that the Husker coaches are going all in on in Nebraska but might also be losing ground on, it’s the 4-star player out of the 2027 class.

Pittman is considered the top-rated player in the state according to the On3 industry rankings, the fifth-best safety, and the No. 36 player in the entire class. Unsurprisingly, Pittman’s stature has a ton of power programs coming after him hard, and he recently talked to recruiting analyst Mike Sautter about who is coming after him the hardest and who he’s most interested in seeing sooner rather than later.

When speaking about the schools that have been pushing him the hardest, it’s clear the Nebraska football team has some serious, worrying competition:

“The schools talking to me the most,” Pittman told Sautter. “LSU number one probably, and then Nebraska is up there.Them two I've been keeping in touch with the most, yeah.”

There’s plenty to worry about regarding Florida State as well. The safety prospect said he wants to see the Bayou Bengals but also wants to go see the Seminoles. He specifically talked about former Huskers defensive coordinator Tony White as a big reason he’s interested in heading down to Tallahassee.

Notre Dame is a relatively new entry into the race that’s already made a strong impression on Pittman. He received an offer from the Irish just over a week ago and is already talking about badly wanting to head to South Bend to see what Marcus Freeman and company have to offer.

It’s clear from his comments that the Nebraska football program has a real fight on its hands. While they have plenty of time to distance themselves from other teams, a Tory Pittman III commitment isn’t a slam dunk for Rhule and his staff.
