Should Nebraska have to worry about Florida State coming after no fewer than three commits just as the 2026 season kicks off?
The knee-jerk reaction when hearing that the Seminoles are coming after offensive lineman Timi Aliu, defensive lineman Errol Demontagnac, and defensive back Jailen Hill is “no way they want to go there.” Still, when a program in Tallahassee, Florida, comes calling, especially for a couple of prospects that hail from SEC country, it’s something the Husker coaches can’t ignore.
According to Hail Varsity analyst Tim Verghese, the trio of Nebraska commits has Florida State's attention, and head coach Mike Norvell’s staff is pursuing them rather desperately. However, the good news is that, for now at least, it doesn’t appear the ACC school is making much headway.
In fact, Verghese was in the middle of a live recruiting recap when he was talking about Aliu, Hill, and Demontagnac and the chances that they could be pulled away when the defensive lineman apparently texted the analyst. Verghese said that Demontagnac was supposed to take a visit to Tallahassee this past weekend, perhaps to check out FSU’s game against SMU. However, he didn’t go.

Florida State struggles to gain ground on three Nebraska football commits
That’s certainly a positive development, considering the recruiting analyst was most worried about Demontagnac, who hails from Seffner, Florida.
Timi Aliu, from Locust Grove, Georgia, has been one of the bigger targets for Florida State in the last few weeks. He even visited to see Norvell’s program up close and personal earlier this summer. However, Aliu made it clear he was still very solid with Nebraska and wasn’t looking to flip after that visit.
Even if he sent signals that he wasn’t decommitting, Florida State isn’t backing off. That’s why it’s also good news that it sure feels like Norvell, as well as defensive coordinator Tony White and defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, are all working on borrowed time.
White and Knighton coached with Nebraska in head coach Matt Rhule’s first two years. They jumped to the Seminoles during the 2024 offseason, and they’ve clashed with the Huskers plenty on the recruiting trail since then.
