The Nebraska football team hasn’t been in a bowl game since this became a thing. However, even with it being such a rare occasion, the Huskers have their first opt-out. The good news there is that at the moment, it appears it’s the only one. At least it’s the only one among players who were healthy enough to play.
Wide receiver Isaiah Neyor announced he won’t be playing in the Pinstripe Bowl when the Cornhuskers take on Boston College on December 28. Tommi Hill has also said that he’s not appearing in the game, though he has the excuse of still needing to heal up.
Neyor’s dropping out of the bowl game is a bit of a blow for the Nebraska football team, who has seen quite a few players enter the portal. While Rhule hasn’t said for sure that none of the portal players won’t play, it appears he’s taking the same approach as many other coache.
Nebraska football has its first official opt-out of a bowl game
Neyor deciding not to play means that someone else is going to have to step up. He finished the 2024 campaign with 34 catches, which ranked him fourth on the team, but he did lead the Huskers in touchdowns with 5.
Neyor was also second on the team in receiving yards with 455.
The Nebraska football team is going to look quite a bit different when it takes the field for the Pinstripe bowl with the optout, transfers and injuries. But it will be an interesting preview of the 2025 campaign.
