Nebraska football a frontrunner for speed burning Texas transfer
The Nebraska football team might locked down most of its 2024 recruiting class earlier this month, but it appears the Huskers are still hoping to reel in a few promising players. Among the players that the Huskers are hoping to add to the roster is a transfer portal receiver who could be a difference-maker if he’s healthy.
Isaiah Neyor transferred initially from Wyoming to Texas. Unfortunately, a knee injury in 2022 put a damper on his Longhorn career. However, it appears that Neyor is getting closer to 100 percent, and if that’s true, could be a massive get for Matt Rhule and company.
According to Sean Callahan of HuskerOnline, Neyor will visit Lincoln this weekend. It seems as though if that visit goes well, the wide receiver could commit to Nebraska football soon after.
If the Huskers are able to get Neyo, and he can suit up and play, he would instantly become a weapon the Huskers weren’t able to deploy much in 2023. It would also mean that presumptive starting quarterback Dylan Raiola will get a new weapon with quite a bit of experience on this level.
Nebraska football looking to land a talented transfer wide receiver
Neyor showed what kind of an impact he could have in 2021 when he was a second-team All-Mountain West wideout. That season, he posted 44 catches for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 20 yards per catch.
The year before, though he saw less action, he still showed that he had speed to spare as he averaged 31 yards per catch (8 for 248). After missing all of 2022, he caught just one pass last year for the Texas Longhorns for 14 yards.
Now he’s back in the transfer portal, hoping to turn his football career around. If Nebraska football decides that he’s worth an official offer during his visit to Lincoln, the hope is that they’ll be able to lock him down before Neyor leaves town.
