Much ink has been spilled over whether Nebraska football is better or worse off now that Dylan Raiola is an Oregon Duck. For the most part, the consensus around Lincoln appears to be that the Huskers could definitely be better off with Anthony Colandrea because of the offense Dana Holgorsen and Matt Rhule want to run. However, CBS Sports’ recent article on the top 10 QB rooms in the country is a reminder that, even with the excitement over a mobile quarterback in the program, the Huskers lost a very talented quarterback to the portal despite his starting two straight seasons.
Analyst Blake Brockermeyer wrote the most recent article, and it really shouldn’t surprise Cornhuskers fans that they are not among the 10 best quarterback rooms in the country. However, Oregon, along with Raiola, is CBS Sports' team right at the top of the list.
To be clear, the main reason that the Ducks are at the top of the list is because of starting quarterback Dante Moore. When Nebraska has to face him later this season, it will be trying to stop the man who could very easily be the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. That alone is a tall order for a program that hasn’t posted a record better than 7-6 in over a decade.
However, the article does credit Raiola with boosting head coach Dan Lanning’s QB room and helping make it the best group in the sport.
Dylan Raiola helps Oregon top CBS Sports QB room rankings after Nebraska football exit
“Dante Moore is my top-ranked QB entering the season, and it is still baffling that he turned down life-changing money to return to Oregon. More power to him,” Brockermeyer wrote.
“The Ducks have also done a strong job over the last few seasons of adding capable backup quarterbacks with starting experience as insurance. Dylan Raiola is now the next man up after starting the last few seasons for Nebraska, giving Oregon one of the rare quarterback rooms with both high-end talent and real experience behind the starter. Moore resurrected his career by transferring to Oregon and learning behind Dillon Gabriel for a year, and Raiola is going to replicate that come 2027.”
“Oregon's quarterbacks enter the season with 42 combined starts on a loaded roster that looks like my favorite to win the national title. In today's college football, that kind of quarterback depth is almost impossible to find.”
This certainly isn’t the first time that Nebraska fans have been reminded of the kind of talent Dylan Raiola possesses. One anonymous source even told Athlon that Raiola was Nebraska’s “last hope.”
While all the talk is about what the former Husker QB could do in 2027, there’s no guarantee he’ll stick around. However, for now, he’s boosted Nebraska’s Big Ten rivals in a big way.
