A long and frustrating wait to get on the field for Nebraska wide receiver Demitrius Bell was made just a little bit longer, according to his head coach.

During his Thursday press conference, Matt Rhule informed the assembled media that the talented wide receiver suffered a setback. While Rhule was careful to make it clear that this isn't a season-ending kind of setback, it will keep Bell off the field for the next few weeks at least.

The Nebraska head coach said that Demitrius Bell suffered an injury to his other hamstring. While he made it clear it's not a long-term deal, it does mean that the wide receiver continues to wait and watch and prepare for his eventual contribution to the Cornhuskers.

It has to be frustrating for Bell, who just a few weeks ago, teased on social media that he was just about back from a leg injury he suffered early on in the 2024 Spring Game. It was he and defensive back Dre Bly's injuries in that game that likely played a part in the Huskers changing up the way they handled the Spring Game this year.

For his part, Rhule has also talked up Bell quite a bit and is clearly excited to finally see him in a game that matters.

Hopefully the Nebraska head coach is right and Demitrius Bell won't miss much more time. While the Huskers' wide receiver corps is already better than it's been in quite some time, it would be great to get another bona fide playmaker on the field against the very talented opposition that comes later on the schedule.
