Much talk about the Nebraska football team being better this season has centered around the offense. Specifically most people believe Dylan Raiola's second year as a starter and a wide receiver corps that's improved and added talent will lead the way. But one name seems to fall by the wayside in Demitrius Bell.
Bell came to Nebraska as one of the better receivers in his class and showed flashes of real talent. There were expectations that 2024 could be the year of his breakout. Then, he suffered a season-ending injury during last year's spring game and was out for the entire season.
Matt Rhule teases big return for Demitrius Bell ahead of 2025 Nebraska football season
Is Demitrius Bell on his way back? Is he ready for a big 2025 season for the Nebraska football team? Head coach Matt Rhule certainly seems to think so based on a recent Instagram stories post where he posted a picture from Bell's Instagram and added the caption, "I know something yall don't know."
Rhule was clearly disappointed by what happened in the spring game last year. It's even possible that he lost Bell for the entire year and defensive back Blye Hill for most of 2024, which was part of the reason he changed the Spring Game into a showcase for players who likely won't see the field much in 2025.
With the new additions to the roster and the rise of players like Jacory Barney, Bell seems like an afterthought. But he's stuck it out and stayed with the program despite not playing a down in two years of being in Lincoln.
It sure seems like the Nebraska football head coach knows that fans are about to see something special when the young wide receiver steps on the field this fall.
