The Nebraska football team added a 4-star defensive lineman to a 2026 small high school class that has some real talent. One of the most talented players in that class, Danny Odem, was already considered a 5-star commit, but after 247Sports shuffled its rankings, the Huskers have a real flex in that he's the second-best cornerback in the class.
Odem was the No. 19 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports. The defender had previously been the No. 31 overall player in the class, but a strong week of practices at the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, moved him up to be the No. 2 corner in the country.
Odem arrived at Nebraska last month as an early enrollee. Considering the talent he's shown in high school and the prep time he'll have by attending spring practice, there's no doubt that he'll compete for playing time. It's the kind of boost Matt Rhule's program needs as it enters a make-or-break season with a high school recruiting class that was deeply underwhelming.
Addison Williams’ early evaluation of Danny Odem is paying dividends for the Nebraska football team
The Huskers saw something in Odem early on. They extended an offer to Odem last February, and his stock has skyrocketed since then. He officially committed to the program on June 23 and most recently took an unofficial visit to Lincoln on October 25.
Despite some talk that the cornerback was wavering, he signed on the dotted line during the December signing period and now could be one of the best players NU has landed in quite some time.
This is primarily a big notch in the belt of defensive backs coach Addison Williams. Williams was the primary recruiter for Odem. The corner was only a three-star recruit when the program offered him, and Nebraska's belief in his development has paid off tremendously.
