Now that the Transfer Portal has officially opened, Nebraska is trying to move fast to fill the many holes on its roster. Having already positioned itself to grab one of the better quarterbacks in the country, the Huskers are hoping to get someone to block for him as well, in Brendan Black.

Black is a monster offensive lineman who has started 30 of the 36 games he's played in for Iowa State over the last three years. This past season, he played in all 12 games and started 10, all at right guard.

Black is visiting Nebraska on Friday and Saturday, and it looks as though things could move almost as fast as they're expected to move for Minchey. Once he checks out what Lincoln has to offer, he's set to visit South Carolina on January 6-7.

How the portal fits into Nebraska’s offensive line rebuild

It's possible another team could jump into the mix for the 6-foot-4, 320-pound lineman out of Florida, but at the moment it looks like he'll be choosing between Nebraska and South Carolina.

Black is coming off of his most productive campaign per PFF, as the site graded the guard at 67.8 overall - his highest in a single season. The offensive lineman's previous career high was 51.6. PFF had Black as a skilled run blocker, earning a grade of 69.6. 247Sports lists Black as the No. 2 interior lineman available in the portal, and the No. 44 overall prospect in this year's transfer portal class.

Nebraska has several positions of need that it's expected to address in the Transfer Portal. The offensive line is right at the top of the list. Hopefully, Matt Rhule, Geep Wade, and the rest of the staff can convince him that a trip to see the Gamecocks isn't even necessary.
