Antayvious “Tay” Ellis frightened Nebraska football fans earlier this week when it was confirmed he took a visit to the Miami Hurricanes. The Husker commit was part of a “pool party” visit weekend for several of the ‘Canes top prospects. Considering how often NU has been burned over the years by players who were supposedly committed and then looked elsewhere, some in the fanbase got a little itchy. However, it turns out there was nothing to worry about.
The wide receiver prospect is as locked in with Nebraska as ever. Ellis demonstrated his commitment to the Huskers on Wednesday night. He took to social media and announced he’s shutting down his recruiting. He won’t be taking any other visits and is now focused on his final high school season.
Considering Ellis will play his final season for Millard South, as he’s followed Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor to the school. Both Ellis and Taylor announced their plans to move to Omaha earlier this year, making it the most unlikely of outcomes that they would decommit from Matt Rhule’s program.
I am officially shutting down my recruitment , and won’t be taking any other visit!…❤️🌽 #GBR

Antayvious Ellis shut down his recruitment and reaffirmed his Nebraska football commitment
“It's a very interesting story,” Ellis told the Daily Nebraskan at the time. "I was on a bus route home from practice, and Trae had hit me up. He had called me. We were talking and talking for a bit. He presented an idea. He was like, well, Tay, what if we transferred to Millard South for our senior year?"
Ellis also mentioned that Taylor had first proposed the idea three to four months before the announcement, and that the two are working behind the scenes to get a third recruit from the 2027 class to join them at Millard South.
Still, when Ellis took a visit to the National Title runner-up, there were concerns that his stay inside Nebraska wouldn’t extend to his college days. Any worries that Nebraska fans had about losing Antayvious Ellis to Miami can now be put to bed.
