The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team got one heck of a tune-up on Thursday night against the Florida Gators and the SMU Mustangs in Dallas' Spikes Under the Lights tournament. However, the Huskers' regular season doesn't start until Saturday night, when they play UNLV in a match as part of the Players Era Volleyball Showcase.

  • NU will first face off at 7 pm on Saturday night against the Runnin' Rebels before one of the marquee matchups of the early season on Sunday at 2:30 PM CT against No. 2 Texas. The top-ranked Huskers need to make sure they don't relax prematurely against the Longhorns. UT has already started its season and has stumbled a bit out of the gate.

Good news all over the Nebraska Cornhuskers program

  • The Nebraska women's soccer team has gotten off to a bit of a rollercoaster start to the 2026 season, but they had a decidedly positive outing on Thursday when they blanked in-state rival Omaha, 3-0. The Huskers are now 2-1-2 on the year, with their one loss to a Notre Dame squad considered a national title contender.
  • Sophomore Carson Bohonek was the star of the show as she recorded the first brace of her career to lead Nebraska soccer to a convincing 3-0 victory over the Omaha Mavericks. The Big Red also finished with a season-high 12 corner kicks while limiting Omaha to zero.
  • The Nebraska softball team will host the 2027 Big Ten Tournament at Rhonda Revelle Field at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Neb, the conference announced on Thursday. The Huskers also hosted the conference tournament in 2013 and are the first team to host it twice since its return. A little bit of home cooking can never hurt when it comes to the Big Ten tournament. The Nebraska baseball team can attest to that, as its conference tourney is always at Schwab Field in Omaha.
  • The Nebraska volleyball team will soon take on in-state rival Creighton, and it's clear they'd best not overlook the Blue Jays. CU started its season by upending No. 9 Purdue in a massive upset that will certainly set the stage for a very interesting contest on September 16.
  • The Nebraska football team doesn't play this week, but they can sit back and watch some interesting Week 0 games, including a Big Ten game when USC opens its season against San Jose State. In the meantime, guys like Carter Nelson can continue to learn, adapt, and grow, hoping to compete for lots of playing time in the coming season.
  • The Nebraska Cornhuskers are hoping to pull top tight end Ahmad Hudson away from LSU just ahead of signing day, and the Huskers look like they have a decent shot. Over the last two days, there's been a ton of talk and some light predictions that Hudson could flip to NU and then play both basketball and football in Lincoln.
