Nebraska Cornhuskers shutting down Ryan Kalkbrenner has eyes on Lincoln
It's safe to say no one saw the domination that the Nebraska Cornhuskers delivered to the Creighton Bluejays on Friday night. And if that was a surprise than the way they completely shut down super-scorer Ryan Kalkbrenner surely came as a shock. Not just to people in the arena, but all over the country.
After the game, many, many people noticed that the Creighton star had been shut down completely. Not only did he score just four points, but he only attempted one field goal. He did not hit it.
What the Nebraska Cornhuskers did got plenty of notice on social media. College basketball experts all over the web were impressed with the defense NU ran in order to completely shut down the man who (despite Friday's outing) is averaging 21.4 points per game. The man who scored 49 points in his season opener.
Nebraska Cornhuskers impresses national analysts
One guy who watches Creighton plenty was suprised at just how hard it was to get Kalkbrenner touches.
Note college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman's site was also quite impressed with holding Kalkbrenner to one field goal attempt
Another analyst pointed out that the Bluejays star came into the game average 25 points per game. But he was shut down on Friday
Former Michigan basketball player and college basketball analyst Ant Wright took notice of the defense sets the Huskers used.
It's not just that the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team shut down Ryan Kalkbrenner so completely for the first time since he was a freshman. It's that that Huskers tend to always shut him down.
After last night, Kalkbrenner now averages just 10.4 points per game against the Huskers. His career high against his in-state rival is 13 points.
