The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team has made a name for itself like few volleyball programs in the country have before them. As it turns out, AD Troy Dannen and his bunch understand just how valuable a team like Dani Busboom-Kelly's squad can be in this era of college sports.

The team is so valuable, in fact, that according to analyst Matt Brown, Nebraska was the No. 1 spender on Volleyball in the 2025 fiscal year. This applies to the 2024 season, but it's a safe bet that the Huskers were also big spenders last season.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers weren't just the biggest spenders, dishing out $7 million to the volleyball team, but they were No. 1 by a wide margin. Iowa State was No. 2 at $5.7 million. Wisconsin was third, just behind the Cyclones at $5.3 million. All 16 available Big Ten teams were in the Top 35 in the nation in spending on volleyball.

More Nebraska Cornhuskers news

  • The Nebraska basketball team nabbed its first Transfer Portal addition on Thursday evening. Sam Orme committed to the Huskers after playing the last two seasons with Belmont. The 6-foot-9 forward was decent on the boards and a dead-eye on offense.
  • Athletic Director Troy Dannen announced Monday he was not renewing women's gymnastics coach Heather Brink's contract. Brink served as Nebraska's head coach for eight seasons. A national search for a replacement will begin immediately, the university announced. Brink's contract is set to expire on June 30, 2026.
  • It wasn't exactly an addition, but the Nebraska basketball team got more good news on Thursday than just Sam Orme's commitment. Redshirt-freshman Braden Frager, who was the Big Ten 6th-Man of the Year, resigned with the Huskers and will return for the 2026-27 campaign. Head coach Fred Hoiberg made it clear earlier this week that he wanted to keep most of the core intact. Frager's signing was a great step in that direction.
  • The Nebraska women's basketball team saw another player, Hailey Weaver, announce she is entering the Transfer Portal. The 6-foot-0 senior averaged 2.4 points per game this season and is seeking a medical waiver for her freshman season, where she only played 20 minutes. Weaver is the fifth player from Amy Williams' squad to enter the portal following Alanna Neale, Claire Johnson, Petra Bozan, and Jessica Petrie. Petrie was the biggest loss so far as she averaged 11.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1.1 blocks per game.
