While building a program from the transfer portal is important, bringing high-rated high school recruits is equally important, and Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg is proving that. Hoiberg talked about what he is looking for when building his future roster, and that applies to both portal prospects and high school prospects.
Hoiberg can't just have guys come and play one or two seasons; he is going to have to continue to find young talent like Braden Frager to continue the success of Nebraska basketball. Hoiberg already has his sights set on one 2027 recruit that could help with the development of Huskers basketball.
Nebraska lands an official visit with 4-star point guard Chase Richardson
Nebraska's On3 writer Robin Washut confirmed that 2027 4-star point guard Chase Richardson has locked in an official visit to Lincoln from April 12 to April 14. Richardson is currently the No. 72 player in the class of 2027, the No. 17 point guard in the country, and the No. 4 player in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings.

Hoiberg will have to wait at least another year before he can get Richardson into the building. With Nebraska potentially losing some big names after next season, like Braden Frager if he has another big season and Pryce Sandfort if he returns this season, the young point guard can step right into a starter role.
Richardson also had a visit with Notre Dame in September, and has received offers from many Division I programs, but his visit with Nebraska has fans feeling he could be leaning towards the Huskers. The Texas native may not make a decision very soon on his recruitment, but Hoiberg can certainly make a good impression in the upcoming weekend.
