Bret Bielema has added some serious firepower to his staff this winter. First, it was former Montana head coach Bobby Hauck as the defensive coordinator. On Monday, Illinois added former NFL running back Tyrone Wheatley to coach the same position he played. Those additions are a problem for the Nebraska Cornhuskers as they enter a make-or-break season.

The Huskers will take on Illinois on November 7, and considering how difficult their schedule is expected to be, every single game is a big deal. Every game NU can win, they'll need to do whatever they can to get a victory. That's why it's not great that the Illini keep improving their staff.

Nebraska basketball is a slight favorite over the Iowa Hawkeyes

The Huskers have seen some analysts turn against them after losing three of four, even if those three losses were to Top 15 teams. Still, that Nebraska is only a 1.5-point favorite seems like someone definitely wonders if the Huskers can win in Iowa City. It also shows once again that if they can, they might win back some of the believers who became doubters.

Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball team continues its spiral

While Fred Hoiberg's squad looks like it's going to be a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, there is now official concern that Amy Williams' group will miss it altogether. On Monday, the Huskers suffered their fifth straight loss and fourth home defeat of the season. The Hawkeyes cruised to an 80-67 victory on Monday. NU is now just 16-10 on the season and 5-10 in the Big Ten.

Nebraska softball pulls off massive upset of Texas Tech

The Huskers have gotten off to a 6-4 start to the season, but the difficulty of the schedule is one reason why they already have four losses. That was certainly demonstrated on Sunday when Rhonda Revelle's squad toppled No. 1 Texas Tech 3-2. It was the second time this season they've beaten the No. 1 team. In other words, NU is just 4-4 against teams not occupying the top-ranked spot in the sport.

Nebraska football moves closer to landing Colorado's top player

Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football team are wasting no time trying to get the absolute best offensive linemen in the 2027 class to give the Huskers a long look. That includes Jackson Roper, who is very high on NU and is planning a spring visit. There's hope that when he does come, Colorado's No. 1 player will pull the trigger on the commitment.

Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball is undefeated no more

After a 3-0 start to the season (something the Nebraska Cornhuskers haven't done in 20 years), Will Bolt's squad was handed its first loss of the 2026 campaign. A Monday afternoon matchup with the Stanford Cardinal was too much for a shorthanded pitching staff due to illness. The Cardinal won the game 11-6. The Huskers will look to get back on the winning side on Friday against, ironically, the No. 15 Louisville Cardinals.
