Nebraska Cornhuskers football coach Matt Rhule can sometimes get himself in trouble because he simply doesn’t care what people think of what he says at times. It feels like he’s entered the “don’t give a crap” part of his career. Possibility because he knows that no matter what he says, someone is going to take it and run with it in the wrong direction.

That happened again on Wednesday when an interview he did with On3 surfaced online, with one of his comments taken very much out of context. During one particular segment, Rhule jokingly said that he wanted the College Football Playoffs to be expanded to 40 teams. He said this while he was laughing rather hard.

The comment was more in line with what he’s said before about the Big Ten needing more teams to get automatic bids, but the media took the line, made into a headline and pretended that that he really wanted 40 teams in. Needless to say, Nebraska Cornhuskers fans were more than a little annoyed at how his comments were used to mislead. Even if it was hardly the first time.

Big Ten baseball tournament is the dumbest format in the sport

The Nebraska baseball will get another day to rest and prepare for their game against the Oregon Ducks, thanks to the worst format imaginable. The Huskers won their first game against Michigan State, essentially eliminating Michigan State.

However, the Spartans still have to play Oregon on Thursday because of the pool play format. Michigan will also have to play UCLA, despite Michigan having already been eliminated. Someone thought this would be very cool, but instead multiple teams are playing games that don’t matter.

There’s also the fact that Nebraska with a No. 8 seed, gets two days off to prepare for Oregon, while the Ducks will need to play two straight games to get into the semifinals. One has to wonder if anyone thought this schedule through.

Nebraska Cornhuskers prepare for Super Regionals

The Nebraska baseball team isn’t the only group getting ready for an important game on Friday. The Huskers softball team will take on Tennessee in the first game of the Knoxville Superregionals on Friday.

It’s just the third time they’ve played in a super regional and the first since 2014. The Nebraska Cornhuskers seem to be on quite the run, having swept through the Baton Rouge Regionals by having Jordy Bahl bludgeon everyone into oblivion.
