Sunday and Monday were rough for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but there was one piece of good news. Fred Hoiberg's squad is ranked as high as it's been in over 20 years. Following a 2-0 week that included a blowout win over Wisconsin and an upset victory over No. 13 Illinois, the Huskers jumped in the AP rankings.

The Huskers were ranked for the first time in years last week when they entered the poll at No. 23 thanks to a 9-0 start. Now, sitting at 11-0, they've got some cushion in the polls as they jumped all the way up to No. 15 on Monday.

Dylan Raiola leaves the Nebraska Cornhuskers

The biggest news on Sunday was the volleyball team's loss in the Elite Eight. That was the first punch. The second came on Monday morning when it was revealed Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola was planning on entering the transfer portal when it opens on January 2.

Fans' reactions were all over the map. However, most people know it's not great news. Still, it could also be time to move on and start embracing the mobile quarterback model that Dana Holgorsen and Matt Rhule's offense wants to be for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

More Nebraska Cornhuskers news

  • Rienk Mast is off to a great final season in Lincoln. In fact, earlier this week, the Husker center was named the top senior in college basketball who hails from Europe.
  • Sunday was hard for all of the Nebraska volleyball players. Still, the loss to Texas A&M doesn't wipe out what was an awe-inspiring season. That especially goes for Bergen Reilly, who was named a finalist for the AVCA Player of the Year award.
  • It seems like the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball program is locked in a "anything you can do, I can do better" competition. One day after Hoiberg's squad improved to 11-0, Amy Williams' team did the same. The women's basketball team beat up on Illinois State 85-44 and on Monday moved up one spot to No. 23 in the AP Top 25.
