Nebraska Cornhuskers Women's Basketball Head Coach Amy Williams met the media on Monday afternoon ahead of the first full practice day of the 2026-27 season.
- "I'm very excited to get things kicked off," Williams said when she met the media. "Our non-conference schedule this year, having games against Kansas at a neutral site with two potential WNBA prospects on their roster, and Creighton poses a completely different execution, and Texas A&M coming in here, and a road game or a neutral game with Cal. There's just a lot of really talented teams on that non-conference schedule that I think will challenge us in a lot of ways and help prepare for that conference schedule because it will be some high-powered offenses."
- Among the players Williams singled out as having developed quite nicely over the offseason and she's excited to see play now that the season is nearly here, is 2026 McDonalds High School All-American and two-time South Dakota Player of the Year Ashlyn Koupal and returning first-team All-Big Ten point guard Britt Prince.
- The Nebraska Cornhuskers Women's Basketball team is trying to get to a fourth straight NCAA Tournament with a reloaded roster and a schedule it thinks will prepare it nicely for the rigors of the Big Ten.

- Speaking of basketball, the Nebraska Cornhuskers Men's basketball team got the best recruit it's ever landed in the current recruiting database era. Dawson Battie is a 6-foot-8, 5-star power forward who is the No. 25 player in the 2027 class. The Huskers have been going hard after Battie for months and it paid off with a commitment on Monday night.
- Matt Rhule addressed the media on Monday and discussed several topics regarding the Week 4 matchup against Michigan State. Chief among the comments Rhule made was that the Spartans run defensive schemes that could give the Huskers' offense fits if the Huskers aren't ready for it. He also pointed out some players he's focused on the most.
- On the other side, Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald talked about the Nebraska offense and how much better it looks through three games this year, than all of last year. Chief among the reasons why he believes the offense is so much better is that Dana Holgorsen is able to run exactly the kind of attack he wants.
- For now, it appears that Vegas oddsmakers believe the Nebraska Cornhuskrs are the team to beat. They entered Monday Morning as almost a touchdown favorite, despite the game on Saturday afternoon being in East Lansing.
- The Big Ten announced Monday that the Nebraska Cornhuskers' Homecoming game against Maryland will kick off at 3 p.m. and will be televised on FS1 and carried on the Huskers Radio Network.
- This will mark NU’s third appearance on FS1 this season, as NU’s games against Ohio and Bowling Green were televised on the network.
