Nebraska Cornhuskers continue dominant run while overcoming adversity
The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team won its 20th game of the season on Saturday night. In the process, the juggernaut squad, that fell just short of a national title a year ago showed that it's mortal, but that if you come for the queens you best not miss.
The Michigan Wolverines took the first set on Saturday night, which snapped a monthlong streak that the Huskers managed to forge. It had been four straight matches without losing a single set. If UM wanted to sent a message that they weren't a team to be messed with, they did that.
However, the Nebraska Cornhuskers returned the message by routing Michigan in the next three sets in order to get their latest win and improve to 10-0 in the Big Ten. The official tally for NU was 26-28, 25-17, 25-11, 25-21.
Nebraska Cornhuskers rolled to another win
After the game, head coach John Cook will be shocked if a team never loses a Big Ten match this season, but the Huskers have a clean league record at the halfway point of the Big Ten season. Penn State is the other only team that could hit that mark and at the moment, they're busy squaring off against USC in a late start match.
Should the two teams remain undefeated until they meet each other, it would mean they'd both be that way up until the second to last match of the season. That would be a heck of an accomplishment, even for the loser of that face off.
For now, the Nebraska Cornhuskers haven't lost since they suffered an upset at the hands of SMU. Next up is a big one, they'll play a Wisconsin Badgers team that might be 15-4 but is still plenty formidable and is on a 9 match win streak.
