The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team is headed to the Big Ten Championship game for the second time in two years. They managed to pull that off  thanks to winning not one but two games on Saturday.

First, they took down the Oregon Ducks, who were not only the top seed in the conference but were also the No. 4 team in the entire country. They might still be hosting a regional, but they won’t be adding hardware to their shelves just yet thanks to Jackson Brockett and the Huskers beating them, 7-3.

They then topped things off on Saturday night when they beat another upstart in Penn State. They knocked off the Nittany Lions 6-3 and will now face off against the UCLA Bruins, who have been taking care of business quite nicely on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. By most accounts the Nebraska Cornuskers need to win the tourney in order to make the regionals.

Nebraska Cornhuskers fans looking to fill The Chuck

While attendance for the Big Ten tournament hasn’t been that impressive, Huskers head coach Will Bolt put out the call after they won the semi-final game. He wants the park to be a sellout.

While that seems unlikely, seats have been selling quickly since it became clear NU was going to the Championship game. As On3’s Sean Callahan pointed out, as more tickets sell, The Chuck opens up more sections to sell. It’s worth pointing out the the third highest attendance number at the Big Ten tournament was 13,300 in 2024. When Nebraska made the game.

Nebraska Softball needs Sunday win to keep season alive

The Nebraska Cornhuskers were in the driver’s seat on Saturday afternoon but dropped Game 2 of the Knoxville Super Regional to Tennessee, 3-2. That loss was in no small part because of just how hard it was to hit starting pitcher Karlyn Pickens.

Not only did Pickens win the game, but she sent a new NCAA record for fastest pitch in a college softball game, logging  a 79.4 MPH pitch.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers will start Game 3 of the Super Regional at 1 p.m. a win and they’re in the Women’s College World Series. Lose and the season is over.

Matt Rhule gets some love from Big Ten coaches

Athlon recently put out an article that had Big Ten coaches talking anonymously about their contemporaries. Those quotes were all very complimentary about the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Matt Rhule and it sure seems like something Husker fans can get excited about.
