There is quite a bit of excitement around the Nebraska football program this year as most analysts, both local and national believe the Huskers are about to take a big step forward in 2025. It’s not just members of the media who feel that way either.

Earlier this week, Athlon put out what has been the site’s tradition for a few years now where they talk to various coaches in a conference and ask for their review of the other teams they’ll face off against. It appears that Matt Rhule has a lot of his contemporaries impressed.

While Athlon tends to leave out the most inflammatory comments from these coaches, who are all speaking on the condition of anonymity, there have been times when the published quotes were less than friendly. That wasn’t the case when opposing coaches talked about where they think the Nebraska football program will be in 2025.

Big Ten coaches drop bold prediction about Nebraska's 2025 season

The first quote should get most Husker fans plenty fired up: “Expectations are building here, but I think this group can meet them.”

The next anonymous coach was clear that he thought the Cornhuskers were very fortunate the Houston Cougars cut bait on Dana Holgorsen.

“Putting Dana [Holgorsen] in as OC is a great move for Matt [Rhule], and he’ll create a lot of advantages for Dylan [Raiola] in that offense.”

There’s also kinds of reasons to be excited about Raiola after reading that comment as well.

One of the biggest concerns from Nebraska fans heading into the season will be what happens to the Blackshirts with Tony White at Florida State and John Butler taking over. Big Ten coaches don’t seem to think it will be that big a deal.

“The DC change won’t really affect what they do schematically; they’re still going to run a 3-3-5 base.”

Finally, this comment about the Nebraska football team’s head coach should have everyone quite excited about the season: “Matt knows how to do this, and they’re heading in the right direction.”
