Monday marked the first day that the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team engaged in sping practice, but news on that front was suprisingly quiet.
The same could not be said for the Nebraska basketball team, which got some good news and some bad news as the offseason officially began (even though they play in the CBC later this month).
Nebraska basketball loses key assistant
Just when Fred Hoiberg and company are needing to add some valulable pieces to the roster, the Huskers' head coach will also need to replace an assistant coach. That's because Adam Howard, who has been with the program since 2022, left for greener pastures.
Howard accepted a job with Will Wade. The former LSU and McNeese State head coach just took a position with NC State and is building his staff with good recruiters. One has to wonder how the Nebraska Cornhuskers couldn't match the offer he got from Wade.

Connor Essegian pushing for old friend
On the first day of the transfer portal being open, there are a number of players the Huskers have reportedly reached out to. Among the most interesting is Jalen Jackson.
The guard played the last two seasons with IPFW and averaged 19.2 points per game this past season. He's also childhood buddies with Connor Essegian, who looks like he's taking on more of a leadership role heading into the 2025 postseason.
Nebraska Cornhuskers wrestling celebrate record finish
Head coach Mark Manning's crew made history over the weekend as Nebraska wrestling finished in second place at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships on Saturday. That is the highet NU has ever finished at nationals.
That wasn't the only accomplishment though. Manning's squad got two individual National Titles.

Ridge Lovett's win by 1-0 decision in the 149-pound level gave the Nebraska Cornhuskers their first individual title since Jordan Burroughs in 2011. Lovett was followed shortly after by Antrell Taylor who won the 157-pound title match. That meant that the Huskers had their first dual-championship since 1984 when Jim and Bill Scherr took home titles
