There’s been a lot of talk that the next month is going to be massive for Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football team. While the Huskers started June with a pretty paltry commitment list, it’s been steadily growing. And then on Monday, the Cornhuskers got not one but two very impressive offensive line commits in Leon Noil Jr and just moments ago, 4-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma.
Noil’s announcement on Monday was a bit more of a surprise as he had originally said he wasn’t committing until July 7. However, after being predicted to land with Mississippi State in the morning, he was a Husker by lunchtime.
Nebraska football’s offensive line class soars with 4-star tackle Claude Mpouma on board
Mpouma was a much less surprising get for the Nebraska football team. At least for those who paid attention to the way things were moving over the weekend. It’s not just that the Huskers scored yet another 4-star prospect, the offensive tackle out of Mount Carmel, Illinois chose the Cornhuskers over Auburn, Oklahoma, Michigan and Florida.
It’s especially noteworthy that Mpouma picked the Nebraska football team because Rhule and company are winning more than a few recruiting battles over Power 4 programs. The victory for Mpouma — who visited during the final open weekend — comes on the heels of Nebraska’s recruiting victory safety Danny Odem. Odem picked NU over Clemson, Oklahoma and Ohio State, among others.
Mpouma’s all of 6-7 and boasts a big wingspan. so his Hudl highlight film, to the extent there’s much available to the public, features him engulfing opponents whether run or block.
He has a college athlete’s size now but should get a redshirting opportunity to develop into a multiyear starter.
Monday has truly been a heck of a day for the Nebraska football program and it appears things are going to keep rolling.
