While the Nebraska basketball team is prepping for the CBC tournament, it’s also officially started working on the next iteration. With the transfer portal officially opening on Monday, the Huskers are starting to reach out to a few players who are on the lookout for new squads.

Things can move very quickly at times. At others there needs to be some patience as the Huskers reach out to players that are going to take their time and see what is the best fit for them.

One of those players that the Nebraska basketball team is reportedly in on would certainly seem to fit the bill as a possible replacement for Brice Williams. At least he could replace the player on the roster and with some of his skillset. Jaden Henley would have some big shoes to fill but he’d be a nice pickup for a team looking to pick up the pieces.

Nebraska basketball officially a player in the fight for Jaden Henley

Things are still in the early stages for Henley, but according to Sam Keyser, the Huskers have officially reached out to the UNLV guard. At the moment, it looks like NU is one of the bigger names but hardly the only big names.

Keyser says USC, TCU, LSU and Grand Canyon are the other teams that have jumped into the fray. The big headline there is that most of these schools are on the second tier. They’re the ones looking to take the next step. And perhaps that’s a good thing.

This group of schools aren’t worldbeaters and among them, the Cornhuskers could make the argument they’re the closest to returning to the NCAA Tournament. Maybe that’s an important factor for a guard who is looking at his fourth stop.

2024-25 was Hensley’s best by far. For the Running Rebels he averaged 12.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He also shot 35% from beyond the arc and certainly, that’s going to be a biggie for Fred Hoiberg.

The recruiting is just starting on this one for the Nebraska basketball team but he’s one to watch for the next few weeks.
