While the Nebraska basketball program is busy getting ready for their first round tilt in the CBC against Arizona State, Fred Hoiberg (and Adam Howard) are working hard on bringing in some serious talent as part of the next rebuild.

It appears the hard work is paying off as the Huskers are now considered the front runner for one of the best small forwards in the 2026 class. According to On3, NU is now beating some heavyweights for the services of Aidan Chronister.

According to the site, the Nebraska basketball team currently has a 36% chance of landing Chronister over some power players like Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Being able to pull the forward away from the SEC would certainly be a coup, especially considering that all three of those teams are getting ready for the NCAA Tournament while the Cornhuskers prepare for the College Basketball Crown tournament.

Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan. He previously attended Rogers High School in Arkansas. That’s where the Razorbacks and the SEC schools come in. However, with him now being in Kansas, it would certainly seem as though the Huskers have a bit more of a foot in the door.

“I’m a lengthy wing, a three/two,” Chronister told SI back in September. “I can do anything on the court, whatever the coach needs. I’ve always been able to shoot it and score it, I’ve been working on my handle and getting downhill. I watch a lot of Kevin Durant, and how he gets to his spots and shotmake. And Jayson Tatum and his hesi. Really, I watch a lot of taller guards, and take pieces of what they do.”

Chronister is inside the Top 100 players in the class for all the recruiting services out there and would indeed be a massive get for the Nebraska basketball program. Now Howard and Hoiberg need to close the deal and nab him.
