It’s not exactly a shock that the Nebraska basketball team will be without two of its key bench pieces when it next looks to tipoff a game in the CBC on March 31. When talking about a season that includes 30+ games, players are going to suffer through bumps and bruises. Some of those bumps and bruises will be a bit too much to try and suit up through in a tournament that will provide a measure of bragging rights but little else.
On Selection Sunday, the Huskers learned they weren’t going dancing. Not that they expected to with a 17-14 record and a finish to the season that can only be described as a disaster. However on Monday morning, the program did accept an invitation to the 16-team CBC and will face off against Arizona State.
On Wednesday, the Nebraska basketball program let it be known that two players, Braxton Meah and Rollie Worster, will likely sit out the CBC with injuries. The program also made it clear that both had been dealing with those injuries for a while but were doing everything in their power to play while the season was still on the line.
Nebraska basketball to miss two for CBC run
Meah could return at some point this season, but he’s dealing with an injured back that caused The 7-foot-1, 260-pound senior to miss Nebraska’s final two regular-season games vs. Ohio State and Iowa.
Worster has been dealing since November with a “pretty serious” turf toe injury that was finally completely revealed during an MRI last week. It’s possible that injury was why his production slipped and he lost his starting spot at the end of the season.
Mesh played in 26 games this season, starting 20 of them and averaging 3.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Worster appeared in 31 contests (starting 26) for the Nebraska basketball team averaging 7 points and 2.6 assists per game.
