Now that the transfer portal is officially open for business, the Nebraska basketball team is officially a servant of two masters.
Fred Hoiberg and company need to find a way to get ready for - and win - the CBC Tournament which starts on March 31. They also need to work on adding bodies to a roster that needs a revamp for the 2025-26 season.
One such body that has officially entered the fray is South Dakota State center Oscar Cluff. The
6' 11", 260 pound Aussie is officially on the hunt for his third team in three seasons after spending this past campaign with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The kind of season he had with the Summit League team will absolutely have big name programs looking to pull him in, and do it quicky. It’s possible that the Nebraska basketball team will be one of those programs.

The 6-11 grad transfer averaged 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds this season. Earned 1st-Team All-Summit and All-Defense honorshttps://t.co/N0eUV4E65D pic.twitter.com/mPvnjnMKVr
Nebraska basketball already has many competitors for Oscar Cluff
As a Jack Rabbit, Cluff was a first-team all-conference, averaging 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest. He also dished out 2.8 assists per game, showing a court vision that is going to be very attractive to all sorts of schools.
He also does have Power Conference experience, spending the 2023-24 season with Washington State where he was mostly a starter, racking up 7 points and 4.4 rebounds per in 30 games and 23 starts.
Indications for now are that the Nebraska basketball team’s main rival for Oscar Cluff will be the Wisconsin Badgers, though Ohio State could have some interest as well. Late last week, head coach Fred Hoiberg said he believed he had the NIL and rev share dollars to improve the team. Cluff might be the first real test case for this as he fits a rather obvious need.
