As the Nebraska basketball team hosts a guard it hopes to add to the Huskers' backcourt, it looks like Fred Hoiberg has convinced another Transfer Portal big man to call Lincoln home. Boden Kapke paid a visit to NU on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon, Rivals' analyst Robin Washut officially predicted that the former Boston College power forward would end up wearing scarlet and creme.
Last week, the Cornhuskers added their first transfer portal addition in former Belmont Bruins forward Sam Orme. Now it looks like the Huskers might have finished putting together their new look front court. Hoiberg has officially replaced both Berke Buyuktuncel and Rienk Mast and can now focus on ensuring the team can replace Sam Hoiberg and Jamarques Lawrence.
Should Nebraska land Kapke, it would be bringing in a 6-foot-11 forward who averaged 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for Boston College this past season. Before playing for the Eagles, he played two seasons at Butler from 2023 to 2025, where he made 16 starts as a sophomore, before transferring.

Boden Kapke is trending toward Nebraska basketball after his Lincoln visit
Kapke was a top candidate for the ACC's Most Improved Player Award, as he averaged over 20 points per game during the final month of the season. He shot 47.9% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.
Kapke's prediction to commit to Nebraska could mean that the Huskers lost, or are losing the battle with the Washington Huskies for Drew Fielder. At the moment, it certainly seems as though Kapke is the backup plan, though a talented one who could certainly fit the shoes of Buyuktuncel, who was a more traditional big man who could shoot from deep every now and then.
